Unsung Shoe Salesman: Bob
June 11th, 2008It’s summer and I spend a lot of time walking around with my kids. This is the year I’ve decided to give up on high fashion and get some Euro-comfort sandals for our daily outings; so on vacation I bough a pair of Born sandals in a simple black leather, thong style with cork heels. Very comfy and cute enough for daily casual wear. One day I’m perusing the Park Meadows Dillard’s shoes department (Style Matters has always maintained that the Dillards, PM only, shoe and purse department is really good and does not receive the kudos it deserves) and they too sell Born. My black sandals are on sale so salesman Bob sells me the same pair in gold for $59.99. Then he shows me a more fashionable Born sandal in a t-strap, patent leather style for $110. I buy them. I give Bob my phone number and ask him to call me if a certain pair of Frye boots go on sale. I’m thinking: “Yeah right, he will call. I could die in the dressing rooms at Dillards and no one one find me until my family realized there was no dinner at the table and called the police to find me.” Four hours later my phone rings, it’s Bob! My $110 shoes had been marked down to $59.99 and he wants to give me a credit! Can you belive this? I return, Bob is so nice, gives me a credit and being the seasoned salesman that he is shows me a really cute, fashionable pair of Bolos (made by Born) for $198. I realized that they where only $143 since Bob had saved me $55 on the other pair (I’m sure you will understand my math).
Bob is a senior citizen that understands and remembers the day of customer service. My feet and my pocket book are happy, thanks Bob.
