Great diet news about turkey –Just in time
November 15th, 2009This is the only time of year I eat turkey. But after finding out about all the dietary benefits of this bird, I plan to eat lots more. According to one fashion magazine, turkey is low in calories. Even my favorite — dark meat- is only 192 calories per 3.5 ounce. (Skinless, of course.) But that’s not all. Other benefits include lots of important vitamins and minerals. A 3-ounce portion contains a healthy portion of the daily requirements of iron, selenium (helps the immune system), and B vitamins. Best of all, turkey optimizes your body’s processing of carbohydrates. Good news for those of us who plan to load up on sweet potatos and pumpkin pie.
